Depression is selfish.
It steals your view
of the outside world.
It stands between you
and the people in your life
and laughs as they, too
fade away into the distance.
It holds your gaze
so your can't behold
the beautiful parts
of the world
as they pass you by and by.
It trips you over
and kicks you when you're down.
It won't be reasoned with
but it loves to argue
and to spend countless hours
convincing you
of the futility
and the pain.
It is cold.
It is hungry.
But most of all,
it is selfish
and it consumes us
with the might of the power
that we really have at our own disposal
although we can't see it
because depression is so, so selfish.

What a marvellous dissection of "the black dog," Wendy. So well thought out and written.
Thanks, Rob-bear. I appreciate your appraisal, but have to admit that I didn't really think it out. As with most all of my posts, I just waited until I had something to pour out of me and just logged in and let it flow. Not sure if that is a good or a bad thing given the subject matter. Blessings to you, my friend x
yep - sigh
beautifully written
the root of all evils? SElfishness.
Say, are you still alive? In the real world or in blogland?
Sorry, folks, I didn't realise I had comments awaiting moderation. So nice of you each to have stopped by. I truly hope I can be much more hospitable to any future visitors. Blessings, all.
