Achievement vs. Success

Bit of a sleep in - only till 9 but that was ok.

Unrushed and uninterrupted shower, always a bonus. Clothed, hair and makeup (optional these days - well doing the hair and makeup are anyway) which is much simpler.

Visit to the tea lady with the impossible princess and the smiley monster. Nice, as always, although the widdies were boisterous, but that is as usual as well, I guess.

Jesmond on the way home. Wholly unremarkable.

The Starchild was attacking the outside of the house with the Karcha and it looked like he had been at it for some time before we got home. Still going several hours later, not sure what was involved but seemingly satisfying or so it seems. Poor guy has crashed out face down on the bed without making it to the shower. Ah, but procrastination is his enemy on many levels, particularly when it comes to doing anything for himself. Not as in being lazy, just as in usually putting everything else ahead of his own needs.

Read a lot today but haven't really achieved a lot :-(

Going to Sydney tomorrow :-( :-( At least it's only a day trip and all of the clothes are washed, dried and folded. It's a much nicer way to start the week. Might get onto the ironing on Monday.

It's wonderful to have the Kman back. He spent most of the day on Club Penguin. Must have had bad withdrawals after a week away. One of his fellow campers is also on Club Penguin so that's nice.

Yes, not a day that was high on the achievement list but a successful day never the less.

Monsterous Non-Smiley Smiley Monster

Spooked myself tonight. How unusual; I'm such a wuss. Seem to be going through a stage of noticing things on the peripheral more of late but this time with images and crazy, terrible situations filling out the back story in my mind. Not good. Hence the spooking. Forced myself to go back downstairs to pack up (and wouldn't have done so at all if there wasn't still leftovers from dinner to be put in the fridge) but couldn't bring myself to turn off all of the lights. Phfff - pathetic, right?

Slight delay in registering the company name. Wanted to make sure it was done in the best way for the tea lady if she decides to come on board but when I told her what I was thinking and asked her what she thought would be best but she had a bit of a soul search and decided it would be best not to commit at this time due to the temp job she has just started, amongst other things I guess (which is a bit like me a few weeks ago, except I wanted to have a job and couldn't decide which way to head). Was very disappointed but mostly I'm having trouble knowing that she is not in a very good place at the moment and I don't feel I can help.

The Kman is back home. He has been so chatty and he has a really fun personality, even if he is terribly mean to his sister, I marvel at the individual he is. He had a really wonderful time at camp and I'm so glad that he is getting these sorts of experiences. We had a roast together for dinner, which was good, even though I didn't get to go to full moon at the cottage as a result. There's a birthday party tomorrow night but I'll play it by ear as to whether I will go or not. Not very organised but I'll give myself a break on that until the morning at least.

The zoo is surprisingly tidy at the moment. Even got to vacuum everywhere today and mopped some of downstairs as well. The shower screens are all sparkly and clean from yesterday's effort. Kitchen bins get a clean yesterday (yay, The Starchild) and am spending more time just playing with the widdies, which is wonderful.

Took the impossible princess and the smiley monster to the library this morning but despite positive explanations in advance of the required level of behavior, the smiley monster was a monster so didn't stay long. Borrowed 'The Bible for Dummies' for me and 'Pearl Barley and Charley Parsley' for the impossible princess. Nothing for the smiley monster because he was a monster. Hopefully with more regular visits things will improve. They didn't seem to have many places to just sit and read, which was not how I remember the library. Have picked up a summer schedule of all of the things that are on at the local libraries so might get to a few of those in the holidays as well.

Desk Calendar Submission

I'm not sure if I've ripped this off from somewhere but it came into my head the other night when I was drifting off to the land of nod:

"Every second of my past experiences are a resource for my present opportunities and the keys to my future successes."

It sounds like it should be on a desk calendar or something.

Success From Concepts

It seems there are a number of little concepts that are hoping to be born in to the world via the dragonesque portal and I need to keep on top of them so that they don't push me into a state of overwhelm. It's exciting but somewhat dangerous. My To Do lists are working well, as is my Little Book of Goals. If I look at these little concepts in the same way then I'm sure to transform them into successes.

5 Cent Bargains

Kman at camp, the smiley monster to Binns, HSM3 with the impossible princess, toy shopping for the impossible princess to spend her Christmas vouchers (yay, Beados - finally, as well as a pink mega-sketcher and a pack of three bobble-head cats to decorate as well as lots of 5 cent left over Christmas decorations, the most exciting of which where packets of red and gold leaves as there's not much else left now but what a bargain for 5 cents!!!) then back home for a bite of lunch and being first assistant to the impossible princess to start off her Beados and now ringing around for workers comp and public liability quotes. Such has been my day so far.

New Friends

Had a bit of forced inspiration today that resulted in my Salamander picture for my BOS. The intention was that he would be a little comical but there really isn't any character in this little fellow. I guess he's just a plain, old fashioned reptile, but he's mine and he's done and he's ok. Here he is:

But my workings must have woken my muse for I persevered in the face of my previous lackluster deliverable, in an upstairs room with the setting sun beating through the window and an invitation to join the family in the pool left hanging. But, man I'm so happy as my beautiful Sylph has now been born. Here she is:

So hot today, got lots done but not everything. Still doing well for my 2009 hooks (keywords). I am missing Kman very much, he was a little upset when he was dropped off; The Starchild even swung it so he could meet us to see Kman off. It breaks my heart to leave him, even though he went last year and had a ball and was so looking forward to it again this year. Leaving him like the reminds me of when he was younger and used to cry when I had to leave him in care when I was working.

The impossible princess was not well today, the poor little poppet. Am thinking about trying my hand at writing a play for her drama class this year. I have no idea where they got the one they did last year from but it really, really sucked. So, even if they don't use the one I may or may not write, if I do write it then at least I will be able to substantiate the good old retort that "I could write better than that". That is, of course, unless what I write is even bigger crap.

Hey, the outlaws also had a slide projector so I'm back in action and gearing up for a slide night. Not really, but it's great going through the old pics and I have grand plans to digitalise all of the images, collate them with as many identifying details as possible and send out copies to relevant family members. Only had six hours sleep last night and it is so hot tonight so not expecting to have a great night's sleep tonight but all going well I might get stuck into them tomorrow night. There are a few dependencies but I'll work through them.

Am writing in my little book of goals again. Have entered three new ones this year and completed one - to solve a Rubik's cube. It felt good to solve the puzzle but even better knowing that I was completing my first goal of all of the many goals I had written in the book since my first entry in April 2007. Admittedly there aren't very many entered and some are long term ones like fully owning my own home but there are still some smaller ones that I haven't done anything about. I am going to put a bit more focus on this in 2009 and see how I go.

The Queen of Organisation and Logistics

The toy room is a mess - I mean, a work in progress. Have finally disbanded the travel cot come toy box that has been residing in our family room for nigh on three years now. Have a lovely pile of toys in excellent condition looking for a new home and therefore an excellent excuse to visit Saint A, perhaps on Thursday as it seems I have something on every other day this week.

Taking Kman to camp tomorrow (or, today, that is), with a visit to the outlaws as I will be in the area. Mayhaps shopping at Glendale so the impossible princess can purchase some long coveted items known as Beados. Some administrative stuff to do as well but 'tis the way for an organised creature such as I.

Have caught up on a few emails and now only four people to reply to. Might also start looking at new vans as would be required when running a logistics company - or maybe laptops as that will be more fun!

Oh, oh, oh! I nearly forgot. We went to the drive ins last night to see Adam Sandler in Bedtime Story. Kman really liked it, the impossible princess liked it well enough, The Starchild liked it a fair amount apparently, I thought it was okay and the smiley monster ran amok and then fell asleep. We did the widdies in the back of the X-Trail with the boot up with The Starchild and I camped out on chairs and it was great. We went just after Christmas to see High School Musical 3 (yes, you read that right). I actually really like the HSM movies and the impossible princess positively loves them. Even Kman holds back on the criticisms and self-consciuos objections without going so far as to say he actually likes them. It rained a bit that night but only lightly and only for a short time and then it was quite a nice night.
