It's not like
it's any surprise
that life
is constantly changing
but
more and more
I am realising
that I can do change
but can't do change as well.
It's not that I mind
that things change
it's just that I never seem
to be in the now
of any given change
so when the next change comes
I really hardly notice it
because I am still
focusing on
the previous state
in a feeble attempt
to be
wherever the Hell
it is that I should be.

If you haven't adapted to the first change by time the second change comes along, you're suffering from "Future Shock." Alvin Toffler coined the phrase and used it for the title of a book years ago (1970s, maybe).
And, beware of "shoulds." They really can, and do, ruin things, including lives.
Hmmm, interesting. Wikipedia says this refers to the impact of individuals and society due to industrial and super-industrial change yet I'm thinking the cause may be broader. You have, yet again, given me much to ponder, oh most wisest of bears.
